ABOUT ME

Christopher Cook (b.1985) is a Scottish filmmaker based in Edinburgh, who specialises in directing and editing. Cook is also an intuitive self-shooting producing director and stills photographer. His passion lies in street and observational style photography in particular.

Cook co-founded the creative collective Little City Pictures with his elder brother Steven in 2010. As a result, he has progressed his skillset significantly, developing a vast array of experience by actively practising his craft after graduating with a 2.1 BA (Hons) degree in Film and Photography from Edinburgh Napier University, Screen Academy Scotland, 2009.

Cook currently has 2 short fiction films in post production, The Box and Bruised and has recently released his latest short documentary film Skip 14 online. The work is the second film production with the ground-breaking contemporary artist, The Honourable Kevin Harman, and is a follow up to his short documentary film Skip 11 (2009), which was nominated for the Scottish Short Documentary Award at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2010. Both works adopt an unobtrusive observational style of filming.

Cook has recently edited the Bridging the Gap short documentary Teeth (2017), directed by Thomas Hogben. Funded by the SDI and Creative Scotland. The film uses a unique mix of archive, narration and stylized editing.

In addition, Cook has created a collection of music videos for a diverse range of artists. With the skill of capturing the identity and market of each individual artist, Cook utilizes the opportunity to craft challenging, visual led works in narrative, performance and concept based forms.

Cook has also independently produced a body of commercial and corporate work, filming for numerous clients of a variety of backgrounds; notably with celebrities such as Michelin Star Chef Tom Kitchin and Olympic silver medallist Michael Jamieson for the clothing brand Tom Morris. Other recent clients include The Super Power Agency, EIS, FANS, The Polar Academy and The Art Room. Cook also works as a self-shooting director for Boda Productions on a range of corporate and live events filming.

Cook continually works freelance for Screen Education Edinburgh producing, directing and editing several corporate and educational projects, including editing for the BBC ‘Maths in Action’ resource. Cook has worked on various workshops and community art projects through institutions such as SEE, The Filmhouse, North Edinburgh Arts. Furthermore, he has worked on educational projects as a film tutor with both adults and teenagers on various filmmaker workshops.
